Yet another casino jetty could come up in PanajiCasino seeks approval from Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA)

A casino in Panaji has sought permission from Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority for setting up new temporary jetty in Panaji. This new jetty is to set up next to the Captain of Ports Jetty.

Upon permission, the GCZMA has appointed three expert members to carry out vital inspection at the spot where the jetty is proposed.

This inspection was scheduled last month under the presence of Big Daddy casino superiors. However, expert members from the authority felt that the supervisor wasn’t able to deliver the right report.

According to the authority member, supervisors were not able to explain complete details like site selection, position of the proposed site as there are Captain of Ports constructions in progress. To understand the right position of the walkway, it is vital to take joint inspection with the CoP representative along with representative of Big Daddy.

The GCZMA will be re-inspecting the proposed site of the jetty for setting up after experts’ opinion on the same.

Michael Lobo, Minister for Ports said that there is need of decongest Panaji’s arterial road. Therefore, offices and operations of the six offshore casinos will be shifted to the tourism department’s river cruise jetty. Lobo further stated that the CoP and Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) are working on the plan on this.

Since casinos are back in operations, Panjim residents are set to face congestion again, especially during coming festival months.
